If you have a child in your life, chances are you've heard the question, “What are we doing today,” more times than you can count.
With three floors of hands-on exhibits, the Children's Discovery Museum in Normal is always a great answer, packed with opportunities to explore, create and play. But if you're looking for a visit that takes the fun even further, add Play Club to your next Museum adventure.
Designed especially for little learners ages 2 to 5 and their grownups, Play Club combines engaging instructor-led and assisted activities, opportunities to connect with other families and playful experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity into one epic playdate.
Each month features a new theme with unique activities to discover together. Every session begins with a cheerful "Hello!" during “Circle Time”, where families gather for songs and a theme-based story. July’s theme, “Cloud Detectives”, will leave you looking to the sky with wonder as you discovery where clouds come from, how they form and the many ways they inspire imagination.
Then it's time for “Station Rotation”, where your child takes the lead by choosing which activity stations to explore. From art projects and imaginative play to early math activities, gross motor challenges and age-appropriate technology, every station encourages learning through play while following your child's interests.
One featured activity this month is “Cloud in a Cup,” where children create their own cloud using simple materials in a hands-on experiment that's equal parts science, discovery and fun.
From creating to imagining and making new friends, Play Club is designed to engage little learners while giving parents, grandparents and caregivers a chance play too.
The next time you hear, "What are we doing today?" you'll have the perfect answer: "We're headed to the Children's Discovery Museum for Play Club!".
